Head Gaskets

How important is it to change the head gaskets when you put a turbo system on a truck? Are the original gaskets that susceptible to damage?

In my personal experience, the need to change head gaskets is minimal. I have 231,000 miles on my truck, however I have no idea on the engine. I added a turbo and haven't had one head gasket leak or problem for that fact of matter.

Yeah...it depends on the engine. I installed my turbo at 110,000 miles and my head gasket started to leak at 156,000 miles. Put in studs and we'll see if that holds better than those stretched 7/16" head bolts.
