The title pretty much says it all. I'm 90% sure that the convertor in my 4R100 is heading south. Ford won't cover it under warranty, silly me I assumed that was included in the 100K drivetrain warranty. 70,000 miles on it, and it's slipping real bad, especially when towing. I don't think it's the lockup because it slips under acceleration when it's not supposed to be locked up. The tranny feels fine, shifts real hard. I use a hypertech prgrammer on it, and tow about 12K I'd say 40% of the time. It's in for other warranty work right now, but I'm going to have it looked at whenever I get it back, but I'm shopping now for convertors just in case. I will not replace it with OEM garbage. 2002 F250 2WD. I've searched the forum and not much on the subject.
Thanks PSNut, you spent some time on that post. Can anybody verify that the base warranty does or does not cover torque convertors? This is a subject Ford will keep hidden as well as possible. I asked the service manager about this and he claims that it only covers the motor after 36,000 miles. I was told the base warranty had a 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty, but I am still searching for a detailed list on their definition of "drivetrain".
