after 185K miles....I finally lost my transmission. Although I REALLY wanted to go with a John Wood build, it just wasn't going to happen. I'm having a local guy here build it for me who's been at it for 30+ yrs. I'm beefing up quite a few things on it, especially the Torque Convertor. Bill is currently up to $3600 I had 1/2" of metal shavings in the pan when they pulled it. The clutches were roasted in the Torque convertor, and 2 different slip rings had come loose inside the tranny, it made a helluva mess!
Good luck Travis. You are about 500.00 away from a BTS. Can't wait to hear how you like the new trans.
Yea I know....but...that doesn't include shipping, or install price. John Wood's towmaster was $4200, plus shipping and install......Hello 5K in a heartbeat! That was gonna dip into my Lake budget for the summer doh!
thanks Jay.....I thought pretty hard about springing for the John Wood, because I know it would be the superior tranny, but decided with the local buildup. I trust this guy, and there's something to be said about LOCAL warranty

That's kinda what I was thinking when I went with my rebuilder.
I'm finally getting to the point of some of the more major maintenence....it beats spending over $50 grand on a new truck! I recently blew my hubs and driveline on a snowstorm romp. I now have a lengthened front driveline (the right length) and Warn Premium Gold hubs. I have a 7" lift and 37's now......I never adjusted driveline from 6" lift with 35's....oops!
