I have a 1988 f150 with a newer 302. I was told the old engine blew because the cat convertor was plugged, so it was hallowed. Right now i have a flowmaster delta 40 series1 in 1 out, with a tailpipe and tip. It is no the sound i am looking for. Its not loud enough and sounds too stock. I would put a cherry bomb in its place, but no muffler is illegal around here. My buddy had dual exhaust, 2 in 2 out flowmaster 40 that he will give me, but dont know if it would work
Can you plug one in, and run just the single exhaust, having a turndown or y pipe in the other out? I am real tight on money and cant really spend anything, otherwise i would go with a whole cat-back system.
I'm not too sure about the dual inlets, if you could run a y-pipe or plug one..but if it is a free muffler, you can always try it. I think you will be happier with the 40 series on your truck, I have 2 on my 54 F100 with full 2" duals with an H-pipe, and its louder than the 40 series delta...I think at least. Try and see if the y-pipe idea will work, since I do believe that particular muffler is differently designed and needs air going through both inlets. Best of luck, and hopefully this helps some..
You can put a cherry bomb in its place as it is still a DOT approved muffler, they can't touch you. I had an original flow 40 series and it reall didn't sound that loud at all. Try it though as every engine is a bit different.
