I cant seem to understand the difference between a Cat-Back and a Turbo-Back exhaust system. Im in the hunt for an exhaust, ive narrowed it down to either a Silverline or a Mbrp but witch do i get?? I want no cat so do i need to get the cat delete pipe?? ive seen it available for the MBRP but not the silverline.
also, has anyone used xtremediesel.com??? I browsed through there website and it seems they have some great deals on Edge with Atitude for $674.00!! witch is the best deal ive found, because im also going to pick one of those up
Cat-Back is from the catalytic converter back and Turbo-Back is from the turbo which deletes the cat. A larger down pipe is better for lower EGT's included in the turbo back system. Reminder: it is a Federal offense to remove the the cat and not recommended. Replacement high performance catalytic converters are on the market.
alright so i think id prefer the turbo-back then, i dont care about mising the cat, i like to take chances. So do i need the muffler delete pipe also? Im going wtih the duals and most likely the mbrp. I just want a good deep sound with as much whistle as i can possibly get.
Whether they sell it or not is one thing but I would think you could always get a piece of pipe to fit. I may be wrong here, but like I said you should be able to pick up the pipe to just delete the muffler all together. Good luck and let us know how you like the sound.
No muffler delete with the duels. You would be surprised at how loud my 05 6.0L is with the straight single exhaust. Actually adding my tuner makes it even louder and sounds mean as hell. I have shipped out a bunch of the duels, but never installed a set at the shop yet. I think the duels make it very hard to get your spare tire under the truck. Im not 100% sure....maybe someone with them can shed some light on that.
you wont need a muffler delete. i have a 4" 304 stainless MBRP on my 2006 its the turbo back system with a cat delete pipe and when you on the throttle is is loud. lots of whistle at low rpm
