no cat and muffler. just for inspection reasons. if you live in an emissions area i would gut the cat and put it back on. but personally i run with no cat and a muffler and love it

I got rid of my cat and muffler. I don't know about performance or mpg gains but EGT temps dropped slightly.

After reading on here for months I've decided to remove the cat & put a test pipe on & leave the muffler on. I dont want it loud when I'm towing.

sounds exactly the same with the muffler. go to cstroker02 on youtube and you can hear my truck on the dyno. i do have to warn you though it sounds crappy at the end due to a bad injector. i think i gained about 1 mpg being that im on 35's and a dually so not to bad and EGT's dropped!!! as performance you cant really tell the difference but it is loud when you get on it!!

is it in a pickup or Excursion and which year engine ?
03 turbos make it sound like a jet engine and different from05, etc...

sound resonance in a full cabin like an Ex makes for droning and just plain ole' NOISE if u remove all exhaust baffling IMHO

my next door bud asked about it in a nice way when my 03 had no muffler for a week until I put a muffler on it..
