Hey dockbot sounds like quite the weapon you got there. You must have had the block machined for fire-rings to keep the head gasket from popping with that much boost. Are you running an after market cam as well? I'd love to make my rig that torquey!!!!!
yes. i actually just got in. had to wash my truck in the dark (hope i got it all) and then take dad to town to put a truck on a jobsite, and then i came back and detailed the inside of it and now it's all spiffy. i'll be there around 7:30 i hope. My Diesel Teacher is coming too youre going to have to give me a ride if i break something!
waiiit? do i suspect Dockboy not being there with his white rig? the whole reason i am going is to ride in that beast, but the dyno is a nice incentive to come along.
wow.. what a great day. just got home, nothing broke the whole day (or so i thought) except a ford f-250 with a scummins in it, it blew off an IC boot, which wasn't anything. had some nice runs there today, i did okay with 291hp and 579tq on my best run. stock was 208hp and 430tq. not much time to talk now because im going to eat soon, but i have lots of pics and ill be uploading them later on!
Just got back from the BTS open house. What a place!! His new shop is amazing. I had a hell of a good time, and got to see some awesome trucks and meet some great people. Obviously Brian was there - super nice guy. My confidence in him has gone through the roof. Plus Brian Bunting of BWD was ther (no BW truck though ), David Lott of DI- and he did have Snow White there, Zane from WOP was there with his Twin Turbo OBS truck (talk about a beast!!), Ryan Bean of BDP was there, Jody Tipton, Tony Wildman, and some guys from other forums. It was pretty cool to look over once and see the biggest names in the performance diesel market all standing together talking to each other and hanging out.
Also, got to see the new DI intercooler. David had Luke's there. Quite an impressive piece I must say. David said price would be around $1300.
Snow White was put on the dyno - over 570 hp. But the big boy was Zane's truck. Twin Turbos (pushing over 90 psi of boost) and nitrous netted him well over 600 hp and around 1100 lbft of torque.
My truck was close to Kris's. 100 hp tune got 289/587, and the 120 tune got 291/572. I was expecting a bit more, but everyone's trucks seemed to be reading a little low, and my numbers were pretty much on par with a few others that had similar mods.
Perhaps the best part of my weeknd was the door prizes though. The were giving out some small stuff - shirts, hats, Shafer's fuel treatment, etc. Then they said the next one you had to be at least 18 to win. I had no idea what it was. But, they called my number. I went up there, and they said, "You've won a torque converter!" I thought they were kidding!! But, it was for real. I won a PI torque converter - same as what Brian uses in his rebuilds. That was well worth my trip down there!! Plus, it's going to be that much more affordable when I get my trans done since I don't have to buy that piece. Oh, and after seeing the shop, I'm calling them on Monday to make an appointment down there. Will probably get the BTS treatment sometime in July.
I have no idea what that TC costs. I've been trying to find out, but don't know who sells them. I'm pretty excited about it. They're going to call me on Monday to get the specs on the truck, then they'll build it and send it to me so I can take it to BTS with me when they do the trans. I think it may the same one that Chad has. I know it a triple disc that he's got, but don't remember which brand it is.
I saw his numbers in his new thread after I posted this. Something just can't be right with those readings.
BTS uses a Precision Industries tc, they cost over 1k. Howd my IC look? Im gonna be lucky if Tony doesnt have it stuck in his truck when i go down to pick it up .
I just found them on on the BCPD site. Like luke said, over $1K, $1040 to be exact. I'm still in a little disbelief about it.
That IC looked sweet. Very tough looking unit. I was amazed at how thick the core is too. Welds looked good too, especially considering they are all done by hand. It certianly made me have IC envy. It's probably the route I'll go if/when I replace teh 6.0 IC. David said it should handle 1200 hp, which is a lot more than I'll be making. Plus, it's cheaper than the tapercore.
Tony - he's a character. Super nice guy though. Talked to him for a while. Ask him if he remembers me. Remind him I was the one who had the girlfirend asleep in the truck while we were waiting for Zane's truck to hit the rollers. It was about 10:30 pm when Zane's truck was making it's 3rd pull.
will they have any more of these Dyno Days again soon?
any in the midwest?
I would really like to go and test my truck!!!
def want to meet all the great forum members, too!!
