can anyone tell me where to find the factory amp? i am instaling a new radio and i want to bypass the factory amp.i looked in the back on the quarter pannels but it was not there. i don't want to tear the truck apart to find it, so if anybody knows where it is . that would be great
i didnt know that the bronco came with a factory amp? are u positive that it does? how do u know that it does? but if there was one id look closer to the radio, ie the dash some where or under the seat like i found in my buddies ranger whe we gutted it
Factory stereo in the Bronco has an internal amp in the radio, no external one that I have heard of. Only the Explorer came with an external amp on some stereos. I just replaced my radio with an aftermarket one and it has been working just fine.
I have a '96 E B Bronco and it had the factory cd player and if it has the factory cd player it also has the premium sound system which also has an external amp. The amp is under the dash between the gas pedal and the cd player it s up pretty high and not fun to get out.
That's the same truck that i have 69ford99. All i am looking to do is find the speaker wires that are going into the amp.so i can bypass the amp. I am going to cut the speaker wires and the run them up to the new radio.it would be a shorter of a run to the amp than to run wires to all of the speakers.is the amp noticable if it look up in there? i just want to make sure.
thanks alot for everyone input .
Do you have the amp bypass wiring harness? The one I got had a big plug on one side and it plugs in to the wiring harness that goes to the amp and the other side of the bypass harness has the wrong plug so cut that end off and that will give you the 2 green 2 purple 2 white and 2 gray speaker wires that hook up to your new cd player for the speakers.
unfortunetly this was not my project. my younger brother decided to put a new radio into his bronco and just cut the wires, the factory harneses. So that's when he brought it over to me. i got the radio hooked up power wise but just need to work on some sound. I figured if the amp was close to the radio , running wires would be alot shorter than running new wires to each speaker. Hopefully i can get the amp down so i can splice into the wires going to all of the speakers. thanks again 69ford99!
that's ok . I heard of someone taking a cordless battery and touching the speaker wires to the battery. A humming noise will be heard through the speaker. So i was going to try that , if that doesn't work I'll just try the trial and error method. I haven't been able to work on the bronco because my brother has been very busy. my only problem i see is getting the amp down to work on it. 69ford99 is the amp really hard to get at and get down, or would it be easier to just run new speaker wire to each speaker?you have been a great help thanks alot!
Well I got it done tonight. I found the factory amp and just disconnected the speaker wiring harness from the amp. I spliced into the wires, and now my bro is good to go It went very well . Thanks for everyone help. And a big thanks to you 69ford99, you were a big help . Thanks again.
I know this is an old thread, but I am about to try and find my factory amp in my 1996 and found this thread by searching. Now I know where it is, thanks guys!
I just wanted to let everybody know though, if you ever have any speaker wires and you don't know which speakers they are too, you can test them out with a 9 volt battery.
Just take the grilles off the speakers, or make sure you can see the speakers themselves. Put the 2 wires on the 9 volt battery and you will see the speaker material move in and out. Probably have to look at all four speakers the first time to get it narrowed down. (a stereo installer showed me this trick a long time ago, so I'm sure it doesn't hurt the speakers)
The amp is like described above breack peddle. But you can pull guage surround and follow wires. Its a piggy back system . The stock harness is there (ussually plug is hanging just below radio . with luck he just cut the amp harness and not the cab harness.
