I have a early 1999 7.3 superduty with a banks powerpack along with a six-gun. the problem is the truck is having a intermittent extremely rough idle and occasionally stalls while driving at different speeds. i have changed the cam sensor once with a ebay part (brand new still in package) and it did not fix the problem and the second time bought the part from ford which also did not fix the problem. i have took out the six-gun and the otto-mind chip both and seperatly and the problem did not stop. i have no error codes on the six-gun and the service engine soon light pops up when it wants to but not all the time with the problem. i have changed the oil to try to fix the idle and even switched oil to see about foaming. i have changed the fuel filter and checked for air leaks. took the truck to ford master mechanics and they had no clue after i got codes read the codes are, p1280, p0237, p1690, p0381, p0603, p0470 koer p0476 ford suggested a exhaust back pressure sensor and so i got one and no still no fix! i have no clue now??? maybe a bad injector???? please help
Odd that they saw the P1280 and didn't suggest a new injection control pressure (ICP)sensor. You might also check/replace the o-rings on the injection pressure regulator (IPR) valve.
i plan on working on it this weekend and find out what is causing it. at least you guys are heading me in the right direction. ill let you know how it goes. thanks
mine did the same thing and it was the connection to the ICP sensor, slipped a wire beside the pin to tighten up the connection and it hasnt happened since. It had the exact symptoms as you describe
