Yes a cracked exhaust manifold would throw off the air/fuel ratio in the combustion chambers. Replace the manifold, and torque the exhaust bolts. Do not overtighten.

I get it at Wal-mart in quart cans for about $4. It's over with the paint and strippers. I also bought a small plastic bucket with 4 oz gradutions on it. The article I mentioned said that 3.5 oz/gal was optimal so I try to put 5 oz in it at every fill up since I always put about 15 gal in. It seems to do something. Some here think it is just cleaning things and doesn't really enhance the burnability of gas. But I don't know how that would be. What would be getting cleaned by acetone that increases the gas mileage, carb, intake, valves...? I don't see how cleaning those things would increase gas mileage.

ok, i finally got around to getting a compression test done on it. all eight cylinder averaged about 145psi, the highest was 150psi and the lowest was 140psi. is 145psi high? low? good? bad? or what?

That's great. All my cylinders are between 108 and 120 and most are 1111-114. Someone here told me those were good numbers. I think a good compression range is pretty big with the important thing being that they're all close.
