[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Sep-02 AT 07:01 PM (EST)]Hey this looks like the transmission i want, cause it helps to decrease my RPM when on the highway. was this transmission ever used in a production vehicle? I've found someone who will find me a good used transmission but he is only able to search the database of trannies in junkyards. Or is this an entirely aftermarket transmission? If anyone has or knows of a line on one of these transmissions PLEASE e-mail me at Ford67Ranger(No Email Addresses In Posts!). I'd like to get this into my truck before i get it onto the road and put the $ down for tag and insurance.

As for T-5/TKO they are not the same the T-5 was a Borg Warner designed transmission and the TKO is a Tremec tranny loosely based off of the toploader from my understanding. The only vehicle the Tremec came in from the factory was the limited edition 1995 Cobra R so basically you wont find one used Forte's sells Tremecs with the shortened input shaft, they are spendy though expect to pay $2500 to get it running, but the actual install isn't too bad aside from the tranny feels real heavy real quick if you do it by hand without a jack, you'll need the new clutch disc, you'll need to have your driveshaft shortened and a new yoke put in it and you'll need to drill two new ½" holes in the frame to mount the crossmember, if you have a 4 speed bellhousing you can re-use it the crossmember and mount can be re-used as well you may want to consider using the road race option with the .83 overdrive if you have anything less than 4.10 gears, my truck goes to 2000 ±50 RPM @ 60mph I'd think anything less than 410's might be too low for highway cruising if you build the engine up at all later. Also be prepared to either:
1. Have a custom stick made and pay another $230 for the mid mount shifter option or
2. Swap to bucket seats
You will need a new stick and **** the mustang 5 speed stick works great as far as position for reach for 5th gear in my opinion, but it wouldn't work with a bench seat, you'll also want to get a new tranny tunnel cover these are ususally like $5 at a U-pull-it and you can just cut a new hole for the shifter tower and it'll leave a cleaner look on the floor than two big holes. oh yeah you will probably need a new spedometer gear I still haven't hooked mine up yet I kind of want to design a new dash and run a electronic speedo and tach side by side with accesory gauges on the sides on a brushed aluminum plate set back in the same position as the regular dash
