I don't want to add fuel to the fire, but I think I agree with Chenders and maybe a posting topic could be for mixing products if people wanted to read it they could and the rest of the people would not be subjected to seeing it if they don't want. I mean I posted a message in the 302 post about a 302 from a 1980 truck in an 86 mustang LX and I know it is ford, but it is not really a truck. I own a perfect 79 F-150 XLT Ranger (4x4 style side short box) with the racing chrome and it is all original or ford replacement. Even the rugs and heat insulation under them are original. What I will confess is that my first K & N filter was from my friends D--- 318 and my wiring (4 prong) is from a 1982 C---- citation. I also know of people who have used Dana axles (unaffiliated with any brand at the time) from other truck brands on there fords. Just my opinion, (not intended to upset anyone).
Well Im swapping in a mustang 5.0 efi into my 67 f100. Ill' tell you if i found parts along the way that worked that I have on the shelf I would use them. I understand the purest ideas of most of the members but ford trucks are not my only interest its my current project. You know I put a Ford 2.0 into a 72 VW bus, most of the guys at the VW shows thought that was pretty cool. You know if people didn't change things or customize your completely original trucks would be very run of the mill and not worth nearly as much. Just my 2c.
I agree with the fact that the guy should have the freedom to do whatever he wants with his truck. Whether we like it or not. We can all try and suggest he not do it, with clear reasoning and friendly debate, as long as we don't attach the guy. (Which I dont believe anyone has done.) And I understand completely about doing what you can with what you have. I never have the time or money either to do what I want. But, this board must draw a line somewhere. We already have the boards divided up into several categories, and now people want a "*******" section? Come on people! What next? A VW section? A section for knitting? A section for fans of Star Wars? This board is for Ford Trucks. And leyway seems to be given to all Fords including cars and vans and such. I think that is pretty fair. Enough is enough. If you want to build a Chevy/Ford hybrid, go ahead. But you don't have my blessing and I don't think you should have the support of this board. IMHO.
Does anyone remember the post in the '73-'79 forum about putting a 350 in his p-up? It was BAD.
Jo, Thank you for tactfully explaining to this guy that this was the wrong place for that question because as I see it people over react to that kind of post. I think that if I don't want to support him in "crossbreeding" his truck then we should tactfully explain how that is not a question for this forum (I like the idea of a forum for "crossbreeding") If they had a forum of thier own to goto to ask the question I wouldn't have to go there and listen to it. But I think the other post that I mentioned got a lot out of hand for no reason. I think the best way to handle it is like mama said, "If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything."
I'm wondering how a Mar-01 thread got rolled forward and onto the current posting discussion topics----maybe a Chevy programmer snuck into da Ford Pooter Processing center and did Asearch of the old threads containing any references to anything Chebby and rolled Deem forward to stir up alittle "Chit"----keeps the blood flowing , don't it!!!!!fd
fatdaddy! Very observant! I thought the 78 4x4 with the Ch$#@ bumper looked familiar. I always remember a really nice truck. I enjoy this hobby because we get to build the trucks we want to drive and share ideas and experiences with others all over this great nation doing the same. A restored original vehicle is a beauty to behold, but for me so is my old bug, gasping anemic engine, slipping transmission worn out rust holes and all. I am always surprised at the reactions this mix and match parts issue raises. While were at it, I saw a beauty F100 at Chimney Rock with a "Hemi", another with a 455 Olds and yet another with a 427 Ford (yeah the real deal, cross bolts and all). So, remain calm, enjoy the hobby and post back.
