Stupid question here, but I want to make sure before I do it! I took both my batteries out and now can't remember how they go back in. The red cross cable that goes from battery to battery connects to both positive terminals correct?? Just wanted to make sure before so I don't screw something up. Reason why I am asking is I'm getting a spark when I put the cables on the terminals and complete the circuit, which I know indicates some kind of short maybe.

Any lites on, radio, slightest current draw will give you a slight spark (arc). The red connectors do go on the positive posts and the blacks go on the negative. You will also notice a slight difference in post diameters between pos and neg. Neg is smaller. Make sure all connections, cable and posts are clean and shiny and slight coating of vaseline, or if you should have some, a non-oxidation grease would be nice.
Good luck.
Whatever I have is drawing about 2.35 amps when I measure from the negative post to the negative cable. What fuse controls the gp circuit? I know I have ine bad glow plug, but I don't think that would cause it to draw current because even with it disconnected I am still getting a draw. Le me know if you have any ideas of what would draw that type of current. Lights off, radio off, all accessories off.
I'm not doubting your intelligence, but are you sure you are seeing current, not voltage ?? You have to measure current with a shunt type meter or a clamp-on such as Amprobe DC clamp-on meter. I doubt if you are seeing current between post and cable without mentioned clamp-on. It sounds like a small voltage measurement.
I had a multimeter placed in series with the circuit and set on the Amp setting. From everything I've read and know this should give you a proper current reading, but I could be wrong.
What part of KY you in?? I'm from shelbyville, but go to school in lexington.
If all is stock on your PSD then pos on the inside and neg on outside for both batteries. On the passenger's side the posts will be toward the back and on the driver's side they will be toward the front. Hope this helps.
