Interior panel replacements!

Hi guys, I can read for hours at a time in this forum and really enjoy the comments and feedback in all the areas. My question is, I want to replace the dash pad and the door panels to OEM ( Jade Green) on my 1979 F-150 XLT 4 X 2 as they have seen better days after 27 years. What is the most perferred supplier out there? I have seen in several books like LMC, NPD, Dennis Carpenter and the like showing OEM tooling but the colors are not what I have. They come in the most popular colors only. Mine is the Jade Green, it seems to be rare! The problem I see would be in painting or dyeing over another color with the XLT chrome ribs at the bottom of the door panels and having it look original. Any feed back will be nice. P.S. Please check out my gallery of pics of my truck. Thanks, Tom

Thumbs up

Tom1979, your probably going to have a very difficult time finding that specific color. Your best bet is to buy a generic color and paint over to match with a good vinyl/plastic paint. Your right, those dealers you mentioned only sell the basic colors, but they are OEM. Good Luck.

Well I agree with you I love my JADE GREEN truck and am sick of being ignored by the aftermarket. Why they don't makle GREEN panels is a mystery .Seems every other color truck could have at least 2 possible door panel colors except green trucks. The dye/paint is an option but I use my truck (see my gallery) and I dont want to worry about rubbing paint off my door panels.I would really love A newer superduty split bench seat for my '78 but guess what? They dont put green interiors in trucks anymore. The DASH overlay covers seem to be pretty good but i have NOT been impressed with the replacement door panels i've seen.

I live in upstate NY and interiors last up here (but bodys don't) I can not imagine how hard it would be to find a GREEN door panel in the Southwest.

I scored a pair of JADE GREEN door panels this weekend. One tip make sure you use the early steel door pull/cups they wont crack and cause you to crack your door panels.

well I guess I got my horn stuck.....AGAIN

I was in the same boat. I got a pair of green door panels on Ebay. They are in mint condition, even have the wood grain insert. I paid around $110 for the pair. Luckily my dash pad is like new! I couldnt even find a vinyl paint that matches our interiors! Mike

Thanks for the feedback. Any thoughts on JUST DASHES, a internet site that that I found that restores dash pads to original. I was afraid that it was going to be hard to find Jade Green color acc. Maybe if we complain enough to the venders they will hear our cry. Will go to E-Bay. Thanks again.

Any decent bodyshop or DuPont jobber should be able to mix the vinyl resin to match. Much better than the spray-can stuff, IMO.
