ok,i have a 2wd c6 tranny out of a late 80's econoline,im wondering if it can be switched over to a 4x4 tranny,is it possible,if so how do i do it? thx all

Complete rebuild then replace the output shaft and extension housing. The output shaft is the last thing out of the case thats why the rebuild.

Yup. Not too hard, I just did that to mine a few weeks ago. The hardest part was getting it in and out of the truck.

so,can u do it with out rebuilding it and pulling off the tail peice? then just hook the transfer case where the tail peice was?

No, you need to tear the tranny down to get the output shaft out of the trans. The output shaft is different between a 4x2 and a 4x4 trans. Since it's torn down one may as well rebuild it.
