460way - the left side of your truck is the side with the steering wheel....this is the standard convention. So your alternator is on the right side (passenger side) of the engine down low and the power steering pump is on the left side (driver's side) higher up.
If you are losing ATF and the dip stick reads low every few days, put in some LUCAS power steering stop leak - it will buy you time until you really fix the leak.
As to the value of your truck - who knows..... It is worth whatever you can sell it for.
Wow, I learn something almost every time I log in. I never knew the PS pump uses Type F, so I've been using Dexron/Mercon in it. Am I causing any damage to my pump or steering box by using the wrong stuff?
And while we're on the subject, my C6 does use Dexron/Mercon, right? Is the type F just for a C4?
The Saginaw Pwr steering pump uses Power steering fluid like Gm's
Dennis never ever use Mercon in a C-6 with asbestos clutches it will cause slippage. Mercon is a friction modified fluid for use in non asbestos clutch applications.
You did mention Dexron III which is 100 % identical to Mercon, Dexron is GM's name for transmission fluid. Mercon is for Fords and Dexron is for Gm's. Dexron IV is also a bad mistake to use in a C-6 it is GM's ultra friction modified trans fluid it is similar to the Mercon V fluid.
