Question Edge Tuner PIDs

I've been running the Edge Tuner on Level 2 and really like it. I have also been watching the PIDs display all kinds of good information like Engine temperature, oil temperature, transmission oil temperature, etc. But that is just it, all that I'm doing is watching the numbers go up and down but really have no idea what the operating specifications are for all of the parameters monitored by the Edge.

My question is - Does anybody have a reference source or internet site link that will discuss the normal operating specifications for those parameters monitored by the Edge?

Thanks in advance

I Think As Popular As The Edge Is, A Lot Of People Here Would Like The Above Info. Bring It On. I Will Try And Contact Edge Products And See If They Have Anything. I Was Just On The Phone With Them Yesterday Resolving A Minor Problem. I Will Keep You Updated On Any Info I Get.

this is very true. I have no idea what to watch out for! I have all the facts, but nothing to compare it to. No parameters..

I found that you can get a short-term subscription (72 hours) for $9.95 at www.motorcraft.com where you can subscribe to the Service Publications, TSBs, etc. The PC/ED Manual, Section 6: Reference Values provides values or operating ranges for normal operation of the vehicle. Most of the PIDs associated with the Edge have a reference value or operation range listed,

I was most interested in monitoring the timing advance in order to keep from approaching detonation (pinging) and engine damage. Normal condition for the SPARK (SPARKADV) is 34 Degrees at 30 mph and 32 - 40 degrees at 55 mph.

DA,

What kind of minor problem were you having with your Edge?

WHEN I LOADED LEVEL 3, CUSTOM OR NON CUSTOM, WHEN I WOULD GO TO PUSH THE GAS, THE TRUCK COMPUTER DISPLAYED FAILSAFE MODE AND IT WOULD NOT ALLOW THE TRUCK TO GO BEYOND IDLE SPEED. I DID THE LATEST UPDATE AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM.

I am having a small problem with my Edge. I have had it about two months now and have been amazed at the performance gains from this product!! However, I recently changed a few settings and now hear a clicking or pinging sound during acceleration. I have the timing adjusted to 1.75 and am running 93 octane fuel and have 3.73 gears. Also I have 305/70/17 on my truck and am wondering what I should be using on the edge as a tire size? Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Spd,
Try adjusting your timing, the pinging is coming from an irregular burn. You may have advanced the timing too much for 93 octane.

Spd-

The manual shows a simple formula for calculating the correct tire size. If you really want to get accurate you can place a chalk mark on the tire and roll the tire to get a measurement that will take into account the tire "squish" from the truck weight. You might want to roll it two or three times to get an average.

I did it both ways and the rolling tire measurement was a little less than the calculated tire measurement (duh?). I used the rolling tire measurement for input into the edge.

Ok I'll try that. Another question... Will any engine damage occur if I use 87 oct with the performance setting? Seems to run good with ol 87 oct, just concerned about burning valves or something. I just dont care for the tow setting or the trans only setting, they make my truck upshift too much. Thanks for your help.
