It covers the cost of testing all the components, the finished product, etc. to make sure that it can handle such a large amount of weight. Remember, the F350 Tow Boss can out-pull an F450 based on the ratings.

That's why I bought a 350 rather than a 250... for the extra weight headroom, better resale, and the extra 2" of ride height.

I believe the tow boss also get the dual power heated towing mirrors and the trailer brake controller. I have a Lariat Crew 6.0 4*4 with everything but King or HD options. You will like it. I like the 3.73 for running empty will tell you in a few weeks if I miss my 4.10s. Dont think so, it has lots of pull. I can attest power pedals, power slider and sunroof are definately worth it. Integrated brake controller, aux switches also. I have the leather interior, it cleans up way better than a cloth interior!

The TOW BOSS is just 4.30 gears, it requires you order the other options. Look throught the order guide below.

HeavyAssault is right... the Tow Boss package gets you an axle and a sticker. It requires that you have diesel, TorqShift, and TowCommand added as well (more $$$).

I have the Tow Boss on my 06 KR Dually. You get exactly the following:

TOWBOSS PACKAGE (53B)
Availability:
• Optional on all F-350 DRW Pickups
• Requires Power Stroke™ 6.0L diesel engine (90P), TorqShift™ automatic
transmission (44B) and TowCommand System (91T)
Includes:
• 4.30 Limited Slip Rear Axle
• Increased GCWR to 26,000 lbs.

BTW: For some reason my F350/Dually/TowBoss cam with the 2" 12K receiver....had to go to the dealer and spend $150 on the 2.5" 15K receiver and bolt it on...I actually use the 2.5" hitch when towing.

Milage...I get about 16 on summer fuel if I keep the speed to around 65. That's an average over about 35 miles. If I keep the speed down to 55, it goes to 18.5.

Now...keep in mind that my truck only has 5000 miles on it, and I'm still running FOMOCO dino oil (until 10K, then I'll switch to syn), so I expect to get 1-2 more mpg once the engine breaks in more and I do the swap over to syn.

One thing to note...the tow boss is wonderful at towing my big 29' toy hauler. Fully loaded it's 12K (or more), and it the truck just throws that thing up hills...it's amazing coming from my old 86 dually with the 460 gas engine. I'm amazed.

Oh...and the truck is bone stock...the only mod is a coolant bypass filter.

Hope that helps...

Dan, what is your mileage towing your 12K trailer. And, are those figures hand calculated or by the truck's electronic calculator?

TowBoss includes the rear overload springs, even without the Camper Package. That is the way I ordered mine.

Don't forget the Rear Backup Sensors, they are the most used option on my truck.

Ghoffman,

I got around 10mpg towing the trailer at about 65 or so. I hand calcuated it, but it's within 1% of what the truck tells me. It seemed like I had a headwind the whole trip. I've only been able to tow it once, and it only had 1000 miles on it at the time.

The riding season is almost here, so I'll be towing it several times this summer. I expect to get a bit better milage this time.

The trailer is pretty tall for a toy-hauler, so it's like towing a big parachute. I think that's what's causing my lower milage.

I don't really mind the 10mpg...its *double* what I got towing the same trailer with my old gasser. I calculated it out, I got 4.8mpg towing with the old 86 F350 dually. The real problem with that truck was that it had 4.10 gears and a C-6 transmission (3 speed) with no overdrive. That big block was turning 3200 RPMs the whole trip...ugh.

I'm very happy with the truck and that I got the Towboss. I bought the truck to tow with and haul stuff. It's not a daily driver or grocery getter, so the milage isn't as big of an issue.

Hope that helps...

RVRoadie: The 06-07 F350 trucks have the auxillary springs included in the base model per the order guides.

I couldn't find the Auxullary springs for your 05 truck except when ordering the Camper Package. It sounds like you didn't order the Camper Package but the Auxillary springs are installed. This is most likely due to your truck being a DRW.
