I'm just about positive the kick down linkage down shifts the trany when you put the gas to the floor, do you need one not nessesarly but truck will perform better with it, i would check junkyards for one
I may have a factory kickdown rod that goes from the linkage on the tranny to the carb linkage for a 1970 F-250 2 barrel .
Let me know if that is what you are looking for.
I will check my garage to see if I didn't toss it and I will send it for the cost of shipping
wow ivan .that WAS a good read. i guess that the c6 in my 79 blew up when i put the 4 barrel on it and did not hook up the downshift rod. i just never knew it.
and the C4 in the falcon must have blew up back in 85 when i put the e-brock4 bbl on it without the downshift bellcrank assembly, and i didn't know about that one either.
i guess that explains the fact that every time i mash down the go pedal the rear tires go up in smoke. i blew the tranies with no ds rods, and then the trans put to much power to the rear wheels, huh???

I didn't read all of the post but the one psoting about needing the kick down is reffering to an AOD tranny not a C6. Yes an AOD tranny has to have a detent cable which is not a kick down rod. They are two different animals. A c6 and a c4 can be driven with out the kick down rod. i as well as others have done so for many miles with no issues.
