I have a 9 inch in my 56 F100 that measures 61 inches across the wheel mounting surfaces also i'm using 8 inch wheels in the rear with a 4 1/2 inch backspace and P235/70R15 tires. With this combo I still have a 1/2 per side clearance to the stock rear fenders.

Now with the 82 F250 rear end I think you will be a little to wide and that has a 8 bolt pattern. If your truck is a F100 the front will have 5. Maybe you should look for a Explorer rear axle, a lot of guys are using them.

I'm using both front and rear sway bars and it works great.

I am more confused now I had to go out and look at the rear. It definatly has five lugs instead of eight. Unless I am not looking at the right place. I know the van that I am pulling the motor and trans out of has eight lugs. I will be posting a pic on my gallery to show but I am positive the rear has five lugs.

Okay then the rear is not out of an F-250.

I posted a pic of the rear axle. I am told it was out of an f250, maybe I am wrong. I do not see any tags yet, I have to presure wash it good. I am not sure of the ratio yet either.

Oh ya the backing plate to backing plate is 57". I wioll be moving the purchase points for the leaf springs, but they are 44". The lugs measure 5 1/4" across or 3" from lug to center. Maybe this will help identify further.

You were probably told wrong. It is not unusual for people to get the 'F' numbers confused. I can't tell too much from the picture but it looks like a nine inch out of an F-100 or F-150 to me.

Ok it's not a F250 and the dim that I gave was with the brake drums on. The van is a E250/350 if it has 8 lugs.

Unhappy

Bad news on the rear axle. Cleaned it up took a look at gears. Make a long story short, I found teeth laying inside. Took completly apart and found I need a carrier.

Since I am not sure now where the axle is out of I have no clue to a replacement. I found a couple replacements but not sure what the number of splines I need.

Any sugestions!!!

just a short progress report. I got tied up with work so been working that over time. As of today the rear is getting the purchase points and shock mounts welded to the proper locations.

Oh ya confirming the rear is a 85 F150. I am waiting for ups to ship me the splicer and leaf spring mounting parts and it on the frame.

As I understand, you had the frame disassembled. How did you fasten the cross members when re-assembling it ?

sorry joe for the delayed responce. When I reassembled the frame back together I used 3/8" grade 8 bolts.

As of today the rear leaf springs and axle is installed to frame. I have a minor delay waiting for parts to be shipped for the front suspension. Hope to be on wheels vary soon!!!.

Check it out Rear axle is completed. After the paint dried I assembled the axle to the springs. I had some paint left over so I wanted to see what it looked like on the frame. Its frame black, nothing special. New pic added!!!
