Gotta 99 F-250 SD Lariat.....I can't stand these Stock Plastic Hubs....I'm always stuck in water or mud above the tires and they are hard to lock in and out on one side now. I gotta use Channel Locks to lock the driver side in and out. They have always had a ticking when under load in 4x4 Low, I hate'm, and they are greased. All my prior trucks have had Warn Hubs and that's what I want. Whats the part number and price for a set that'll fit my truck, I can install myself, just need the resource to get'm and do's don'ts if yall have swapped or found a better pair, thanks.
Whats the difference between the standard and premiums ? I'm not a hardcore off-roader or anything but will use use the lockouts alot for mud and snow back home, does everyone here pretty much get the premiums just cuz ?
The Standard hubs have some cheezy plastic pieces on them. The Premiums are all metal.
I bought the Stainless Steel Mile Markers at Summit for $149. I just left the center cap off (aftermarket wheels) and they look real nice.
Look into the Warns and the Mile Markers. After some research, I found the MM to be more of what I wanted. Here's the biggest points I saw between the two.
Warns: Better sealing (2 seals vs 1) & slightly easier to turn (3/4 turn vs 1/3)
MM: Stronger design (steel vs aluminum) & tighter fit (no rattling or extra spacers).
One comment about the Warns "rattling" which I did have a problem with. If you contact Warn about it, they will immediately mail you extra snap rings to cure the rattle.
It's not Warn's fault, but Dana/Ford for making the snap-ring groove so honkin' huge and then not making all of them the same width. Some need the extra ring, some don't. For instance, my driver's side didn't rattle, but the passenger side did. Upon inspection, there was a noticable difference in the thickness of the groove.
Does anyone make aftermarket auto-locking hubs? I'm beginning to have trouble with my factory hubs, but really don't want to have to go back to manual hubs.
In my opinion manual hubs are great for off roading, or when you know you're going to be driving in 4 wheel drive for extended periods, but they are kind of a pita when you are driving on the road and don't need to be in 4 wheel drive all the time.

None that I've ever seen, at least vacuum-actuated ones.
I gladly got rid of the auto-locking hubs. I can't stand not having them lock when I need them. And manually locking them was almost impossible after they were a year old.

Do you have the Part number for the MM's u got from Summit ? This price is for the pair right ?
Not to trumpet Warn any more, personally, I couldn't care less, but just this:
The aluminum vs. steel applies only to the cap that you see on the outside.
A large rock or other object could possibly crack the cap on the Warns, while the MM's, I would imagine, are stronger.
BFR250SD, is it the cap itself you were talking about being steel on the MM's ???
Okay, first part number was MM449SS from Summit and, YES, it was for the pair.
As for the Aluminum vs Steel, I was talking about the actual hub body itself. One of the reviews I was reading about the two got pretty in detail about not overtightening the 6 cap screws on the Warns, as you could strip out the hub body.
The MM's didn't have this problem, as the the hub body itself is steel.
Either way, for 99% of people I don't see this being an issue. If you're the kind of person that uses a breaker bar to tighten everything, then maybe.
If you're a mudder, you might want to go with the Warns (2 seals and o-rings on the cap screws)
If you're really abusive and lots o' power, I'd go with the MM's.
One thing to keep in mind, either good or bad, is that I would "think" that the Warns (being aluminum) would strip out before breaking or stripping a stub shaft. Much easier to replace a hub than a stub. Just my thinking I guess.
