the easiest way i found before i bought the tool is to put 2 big screwdrivers 180 degrees apart and put a third between them and use it to turn them

Very possible I had a non-stock one, without the square drive in it. Or Ford, in all their wisdom, had different designs.

Maybe Harvey. I have heard that parts differ somewhat in different parts of the US.

That would make sense. Depending on where and when the truck was built, the assembly plants could very well have different suppliers for some of the smaller more generic parts. But, that's just a guess.

Question Need a lid....

Like a big dummy when I changed my filter, I either didn't realize that the lid came off, or I had one that DIDN'T come off...but I bought a filter with the lid on it....now I see them from Fleet filters without the lid and they want $16.49 for a single lid....Does anyone know where I might get a replacement lid?? Thanks for any help....Dave

That's a pretty good price for the fuel filter lid. If you want any cheaper start combing the junkyards. But there's a good chance you'll spend that much in fuel just hunting down the cheapest lid.
