86 bronko engine swap help please.

I have an 86 bronko with a EFI 302 and a NP435.This rig is being done up for rock crawlin.I love the fulie injection but the 302 never has enough power.I have all the stuff to convert a 460 in the truck but wanted to know what is involved in swaping the wires for the EFI 460 over the EFI 302???What has to go and what can stay for the 460?Please help. Also I still need all the EFI equipment for the 460,so what is needed and what can be used in the truck now?

well i will tell ya that the 460 for rock crawling is not the way to go. way to heavy of a motor for that type of wheeling. you need to get your front/rear gears taken care of to handle the rock crawling. running 4.88 or 5.13 gears would take care of your need for more power. along with that np435's low gearing would be sweat setup maybe even run a 2 transfercases as well.

but if your really stuck on doing this just say so and i will continue .

ok, a think even a 5.8 stroked to a 393 or 408 would be a better, lighter choice and easier to efi as well.

your gonna need a new bellhousing for that np435 so it bolts up to the 460. L&L products has the proper mounts and maybe even the bellhousing youll need to. it may be spendy but worth it in the long run. the 302 harness should work on the 460 as well from what i have been told. you would just need the proper ecu from an f250/f350 with a manual tranny. also look into some new front springs to handle that extra weight or look into going SAS upfront which in my mind would be the best solution. the ford TTB just doesnt do well rock crawling.

I will be running a solid D60 front with leafs.I have the bell housing aswell as the frame pirches for the 460.What is this ECU for the manual?

So all the wires from the 302 should plug into the 460 and then just install the 460 computer??

Thanks for the help mann.

yes and yes. also think about going hydrolic with that np435 as well. that way you can run a stronger clutch pack and not kill your leg
