Angry Instrument Panel

I can't seem to find the short on my 86 Bronco. Already replaced the headlight switch, but the fuse keeps blowin. With no instrument panel lighting, it's hard to drive at night. I'd like to follow the wires under the dash board, but don't even know what to do? Should I use a continuity tester or one of them meters? Help!

Look at your trailer wiring - it often gets kinked when you jacknife a trailer & pinched against the bumper. Then look at the headlight connector in front of the battery - if the battery has ever slid around, it may have hit the connector & shorted the terminals together.

Check the wiring behind the radio. There is a wire for the illumination of the radio, and if you install an aftermarket stereo, there's no need for the wire. It may have moved or come loose and is shorting out back there. Had it happen several times in different vehicles.
