Post pointless ignitions (electronic)

Does any one have one on there truck? if so do you like it, and would you recomend it to any one else? are they any good?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Nov-02 AT 09:27 PM (EST)]The easiest way to do it is to put on a MSD ignition. You can run it with points and then pick up a stock Ford distributor used with the Duraspark box. The MSD will trigger off either one. Later on you can add a box that allows you to vary the timing while you drive from a **** on the dash.

I used a pertronix ignitor in my 65 mustang, and liked it alot. I have one on order now for my 71 F100.

If you need something inexpensive, it is probably cheaper than an MSD setup... I paid $60 for one on eBay. You can find more info on them here:

I've installed the Duraspark setup on my old '70. Works great, but I miss my points.

HEI converted for Ford, just one 12v wire and that's it. no boxes on the fender, no ugly wires, no coil sticking up. when you order one, they take your specs and curve your distributor for you. been running one on my stang for 6 yrs without ONE problem!!! bought one for my 67 F250 Camper Special 390FE. fired right up after dropping it in!

Ken...

Stock .352, 2bbl... trying to be more fuel efficient, and get better performance. Just picked up the Pertronix Ignitor with high voltage coil (eBay), have the 7mm wires on order and installing Splitfire plugs...

Question What's the best recommendation for a cap and rotor to hold up to the increased spark, or is stock ok?

Open to suggestions, thanks!

I have a 68 F-250 camper special with a 360 and RV cam. I was having problems with my point slipping all the time and losing thier gap. I put in a pertronic system and could not be happier. I had one set go bad but was exchanged with no questions asked. That was 5 years ago and check the gap every tun-up but o other problems yet.
