This weekend I installed a three-gauge cluster (amp, oil & temp) and the temp gauge only registers just barely over 135°. I replaced the stock sensor with the new one but in order to fit the new one, I had to do some plumbing. This brought the sensor itself out of and above the intake manifold. I figured the water is under pressure and ought to push up to the new sensor.
My question: Do I have to get the sensor down inside the manifold to get the right temp reading? Thanks.

That would be the ideal thing to do. What you might try, though, is loosening the sensor while the system is under pressure (very dangerous so be careful). There might be an air bubble trapped underneath it.
