Ok, this maybe a stupid question, but when you tow a trailer, are you suppose to put your progammer in tow mode, and your tranny in tow haul mode? Any opinons are helpful.
I've got the Edge W/Attitude and have used the tow setting and tow mode. It worked great during a trip to mexico. I normally use the edge program for EGT only; however always use the tow mode when towing. I have driven on stage 2 & 3 to feel the performance but not often.
I looked thru the online manual for the Edge/Attitude. I couldn't find any mention of settings that would improve mileage. Does anybody see any MPG improvement on any settings?
If you're towing over 5000-7000 lbs you need gauges to answer that question! Dropping the HP level will help drop the tepms but the only way to know for SURE is to get gauges, here at DPPI we ALWAYS reccomend them to anyone that is adding HP and towing, safety is the best bet!! You would be amazed at how hot the EGT's can get on a stock truck with 10,000 LBS and a good grade! Call us if you have any questions etc.
I have noticed a good increase in mileage on the "mileage setting" which I think was setting 1. I only have 6k on the engine, but with it in mode 1 and keeping the foot off the gas and staying between 65 and 70 I manage to get 15.8 mpg. I have heard that these engines really don't see an improvement until about 25k. (But this is a rumor)
I have an 2005 6.0 with the Edge Juice/Attitude. Normally I run the truck on setting 4, keeping my foot out of it. I'll found I got better mileage the higher the setting. On 4 I average 16.8 on my daily commute and I've hit 19.3 on a long distance trip unloaded. I got 14.8 pulling a 4000 lb camping trailer. When towing I have the Edge on setting 2. I put it on tow/haul when I get into mountains. If its flat I leave it off only because the truck doesn't need it. Thats my 2 cents.
