I bought the truck in 2000 and have never been able to get it into 4low. I quess i never really needed it, I could do all the wheelin I needed to in 4high. (check my gallary) I would like to experiance 4low. Any ideas???
Are you putting the transmission in neutral w/truck stopped first? I made that mistake when I first bought my 89. Yanked and tugged till my brother told me to put it in neutral first. 2 to 4 high...not a problem, into 4 low...gotta be in neutral.

That and don't forget that you have to push down to get through Neutral of the transfer case.
i had that problem with my 87 F150. Took getting under the truck with some white grease and lubricating the heck out of the linkage. Once lubricated and moving, I made sure to occasionally shift into low range ( few times a month) just to keep the linkage working.
In my case, it was dirt and a bit of corrosion . . .
as far as I can recall it is along the side of the case. haven't been under there looking at it in a long time. I had a friend wiggle the 4 wheel lever in the cab so I could identify the linkage, then cleaned and lubed.
The transfer case lever pivots on a boss on the transmission extension, between the transfer case and the transmission. It's pretty straightforward when you're under the truck!
