Well I finally did them. I did the in-tank, pre-pump and harpoon mods today (used a napa 3003 for a pre pump filter) along with the hpx line last week. And I can honestly say there IS a difference in the way the truck runs and sounds. SOOO much better! Did the kwik filter and ccv mods last month . With a 177,000 miles on it , it sounds like a new one. I have learned a lot since joining this site, keep up the good work. Thanks and God bless.
Just think what Ford would have done to the truck world if they had delivered the 7.3
with the tank mods and a HPX as stock.
Probably would have put chevy and dodge out the diesel game completely
Interesting... What exactly are the details on the pre-pump and harpoon mods along with the hpx line?
As far as the HPX line, check out KCM at http://members.***.net/kcmdieselperformance/ford.htm and you can get their Stainless steel line that connects between two of your high pressure oil points for your injectors in the top portion of your heads.. You remove two existing plugs and add the line.. really very simple.. but be careful of the o-rings on the connectors.. put alitte oil on them before threading.. It will quiet your engine down. It balances the spikes in high pressure and smoothes them out..
It's a resistor to skew the value the ICP's (Injection Control Pressure sensor) output to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module - the engine's main brain) to make it think that the HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) pressure is too low, thus causing the PCM to command the IPR (Injection Pressure Regulator) to increase the oil-over-fuel pressure, causing more fuel to be injected during the available "injector-open" pulse-width.
Also known as a 10K mod if that's the value of the resistor you use.
