I actually compared the vehicles as a 'whole', but to stick with the axles, I think there are still a couple of differences:
a) the Bronco has a slightly different Ackerman angle (even though there's no difference in parts)
b) toward the end of it's life, Broncos didn't come with highway gears (numerically lower than 3.55) while F150 could have a taller gear. And the 4.10 gear could be the other difference, but I'm not too familiar with F150s.
c) and the big one: all retail Broncos in the US were 4WD
The 4.10 option is rare, but it's out there. I've only seen it on the Bronco, never on an F-150. I've also only seen a handful of 3.08 axles in a Bronco, while they're very common in the F-150's.
fordman, I think you're wasting your time. You are likely never going to find stock axles with anything other than 3.08's or 3.55's. Even if you do find your 3.73 axles, which I doubt even exist in a 4x4, the difference is barely noticable over 3.55's. Your mileage and power will remain basically unchanged.
Solution: buy some 4.10 gears and pay to have them installed if you're set on having new gears.
