i have a 97 150 w/4.6 auto. i'm looking for any info from ya'll about junkyard vehicles i can scavenge for a supercharger or turbo charger. From what i gather from other threads, a turbo will probably be what i end up with, I don't have the money for new but i can do most fab work myself. I dont have any experience with either, so bear with me if something I say sounds ignorant. for the sake of time i would prefer a single turbo but willing to use two.

thanx for the help

I don't think any vehicles for sale in this country come with a turbo large enough for your 4.6. You may be able to fab-up two smaller ones, though.

You may want to look into getting a blower from an SVT Mustang Cobra (if you can find a wrecked one), it also has the 4.6. I know you can fab-up a Lightning blower to fit onto a 5.4, so I would think you could put a Cobra blower onto a 4.6. Heck, maybe you could even put the Lightning blower onto a 4.6 (not sure about this one).

Or, a used blower kit, that's the route I took. Paid half the price of new, but it still wasn't cheap.

As pronstar said, a blower would be the easiest - turbo's are the most complex of the systems.

A pair of T3's would be suitable for a 4.6l though...

where would I look for a used blower. do you know of any sites, my local junk yards are not much help, they tend to the leftovers.
I was thinking of maybe a powerstroke, for the turbo, shouldn't most of the parts be there? Another dumb ques, but what vehicles had the t3's, smaller chryslers?
My wifes sis just wrecked an svt 'stang and i tried to get but the ins. co. has an agreement with "copart"(if anyone knows them), and they only sell to liscenced salvage dealers. They get all the good stuff. !@#$$%

I think Chryslers did - they were fitted to most of the 2.3l turbo Fords too...
Watching your local junk yards (and as much as it pains me to say this - ebay as well)

Check the classifieds on this site, and the other F150/Ford Truck sites.
That's how I found mine.

You'll have to keep checking, but they turn up from time to time.

The one I bought was a "stale" listing. The guy posted it like months before, and got no responses. I found the post, sent him an e-mail, and sure enough, he still had it. Since he got no replies after several months, he was really happy to sell it to me at a great price.
