I just started rewiring my tail lights on my 67 f100. It was real bad back there and I just cut them out. I found a little box back there on the left side with 1 wire comming out if it. Does any one know what the box is for. Well I thought I had everything under control when I checked out the lights the leftside brake light didnt work or the lisence plate lights. What wire does the current flow for the brake lights? correct me if I'm wrong on the light wires. I spliced the lisence plate lights to the brown wire why dont they work?
green--- right side turn signal
yellow--- left side turn signal
brown--- running lights
black/red reverse lights
Any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance!!!
That color code is correct Did everything work before or is this a fix to get everything working?
The brake lights share the same wires as the turn signals, the yellow and green wires.
Best bet is to see if you have voltage when you are supposed to, ie brakes on is there voltage on both the yellow and green wire? is ther viltage at the licence plate bulbs with the lights on? also check to make sure all the sockets have goog grounds.
Not sure of what the box is. Does it look factory or aftermarket? Maybe a trailer wiring setup. I also had to rewire my rear lights because I couldn't get left side to work; replaced signal switch and everything is fine.A test light is good but a volt meter works better to pin point where your problem is. I completely rewired my brake lights using 66 lens and installing blue dots at the top and wiring in my brake lights with the back-up bulbs. The 66 lens do not have a clear bottom section;just on complete red lens. If anyone hits me in the rear they're blind!
