Well, after two years of working, and a few more months to go, the cab on my 53 is finally a purrrrrrrdy "Inferno Red Effect"....i kinda depressed myself falling in love with a chrysler color, but it will be really sharp all put together....got one spot i've got to touch up in the morning before clearcoating, but hopefully i will get some pictures in my gallery in the next day or two.......from here, its mounting the cab and wiring the 5.0 efi (which will be a chore in itself), while doing the blasting and body work on the box and all four fenders.... the ball has finally begun to roll a little more quickly.....
Darrell
The EFI should be a piece of cake if you use one of the mini harnesses from Ford or one of the aftermarket wiring people. Includes a dedicated control CPU that only looks at the fuel and ignition, not a million other extranious sensors the OEM units need. Plug it in and go. The aftermarket industry has finally answered the need so we can use engines built after carbs became extinct.
well pictures are now in gallery....i really dont think it turned out that bad; i didnt get too shook up with the inside of the cab, considering it will be covered and sound deadened anyway, if not undercoated first, and at over $160 list price/quart, i didnt figure i needed to burn up that much paint....
Inferno Red Effect is really starting to grow on me....im happy with the choice...
oh, and as for the wiring, its all still pretty much wired from the car i took it out of, i just need to find a place to put all the wires and get other fancy accessories hooked up, such as the fuel economy gauge/computer. other than that, i will probably stick with the old school heater, and aftermarket a/c--in the future somewhere....

hey darrell looks good, just got my 53 back today from the sandblaster.spent all evening primering the cab, fenders, grill etc.my arms feel like rubber and my back aches.
oh, but doesnt it? get all my mounts ordered here in the next week or so and get it on there.....did some more lookin at the box today, and i see i will have to cut out the back cross piece, and probably the back stake pockets and get them redone....between rust and the PO being a nimrod, theres all kinds of things welded and smashed that need to be fixed....somedays i just feel like hangin him up by his welding cables, but thats when you just move on to something else and forget about it for a couple days....
as for the paint, depending on the light, i've seen anything from almost a bright candy apple red to almost a dark cherry in the shadows..... exactly what i was looking for.....
That's a great color! My 48 looks sorta like a period Ford shade and most guys guess that it is, but its actually '99 Honda Accord paint..............sshhhhhh!
I'd never apologize for using Mopar paint. Feels really good to get something shot on there doesn't it - like it's finally coming together after the endless hours of rust, dust and grease.
