I need some help. Not too familiar with transmissions, but trying to help out the neighbor kid. Seems he somehow lost the plug or seal (about 1.75" dia) on the bottom of the transmission bell housing. I don't know the name of the part or if I'm even describing the correct part. It was located on the bottom of the trani bell housing between the oil pan and the trani oil pan.
His truck is a 92 F150 Flareside 5.8L 4spd AT. Trani will not go in gear at all, but will shift to Neutral to tow (I towed him back to his house yesterday with my 05 F250).
Thanks for any help. Discount, Advanced, and PepBoys no help.
Thanks much! Now I get the pleasure of contacting my local Ford dealer parts dept. If it weren't helping a kid, I think I'd rather go get a root canal.
i too just bought a bronco with that plug missing. dont try to fashion an expandable freeze plug in there. it will only become snapped off. shouldn't cost too much no matter where you go, i haven't taken the time to go find it. i just asked the same question in the bronco forum.
