Is there a Tcase I can bolt onto the back of an AOD(out of 89 F150 4x4) into the 77 Bronco . Will a 205 fit on the frame rails? how about the original Bronco case? Any ideas would be helpful. I bought a recent rebuild 5.0 w/AOD out of a 92 F150 today and have the 4wd AOD trans. core . This combo sound like it would be a decent combo for a Bronco. It has 35s on it now but will get 255/85/16s for thew winter. Would 4.10s be best with the OD?
I plan on using it as adaily driver, and weekend toy. No rock climbing or hardcore offroad.
I had planned on a cummins 3.9 w/5spd, but was looking at around 5000 in parts to install. That buys a lot of gasoline!
Thanks for input guys.
i would double check that tranny. the AOD was very very very rare in that year especially for a 4wd. it would more then likely be the e4od which is computer controlled and a whole nother beast to deal with.
since you will have od and 35's going to 4.56 would work out great for a DD.
I might be wrong on the year of the 4wd trans but it is definitely an AOD. An E4OD is almost twice this size. I definetly don't want that many electronic headaches!
Thanks DOHC, I'll look them up, I'd like to use the smaller case if I can.
Did one case on the early Bronco have a lower 4L than another or were they all equal?
Sorry guys I know lots about this vintage Fseries but limited on the small Broncos.
OUCH! Advance adapters = $ 627.90 plus exchange on lowly Canadian Dollar plus taxes plus shipping, I'll be into it for almost $1000 CAN. I guess I'll have to shop around. Spoke with some local boys who told me my Bronco had a T18with a 205 behind the 302. I have put a ZF 5spd in front of a 205 but not sure if the AOD would fit.
Yes I did have to modify the mating flange on the ZF to clear theshift rods in front of 205. Thanks for anymore input guys.
