I have a razor just like that Furball, passed on to me by my grandfather as well. I never used it though, just a keepsake. I have a couple of razors that he passed on to me, some interesting looking ones at that, and along with those came the brush and soap. I tried electric shavers but found that the hair gets ripped out more so than anything else.

Wow I guess I'm a waster or a baby-faced wimp...two shaves on my Mach 3's and I toss 'em. I shave every other day and if I happen to use the same blade for the 3rd time I can feel it grabbing and tearing at my face.

I tried using an electric and I hated it. It left my face feeling 'fuzzy' as if I had a layer of static electricity over it, not nice at all.

I use the Mach III turbo and it usually lasts 1-2 weeks of shaving. Of course, I have been shaving my head for over 11 years so I have a little more surface area to shave than most. A buddy of mine just started using that new Fusion 5 blade, he likes it, says it doesn't shave any closer but is a lot smoother and lasts longer. But he's an idiot so take that for it's worth...

Furball, that is exactly what I am looking for. The trick with those is getting one that is not bent. Dropping one just once ruined it.

The Gillette Sensor Excel double blade works well also. I use them often also, just depending on what I pick up at the store for replacement blades.

Correction- It is the Gillette "MACH 3" triple blade shaver that I don't like with it's floppy blade mount system. My son seems to like it tho.

That corrosion is what the oil I mentioned above prevents. I think I used regular old baby oil.

It seems like the manufacurers put their best blades in their newest multi-blade product and all of the older styles get factory seconds that are dull. I think they do this to try to migrate everyone to the newer $y$tem.
The store brand blades seem to be a real hit-or-miss proposition. One package may be OK and the next one is duller than the blade you just threw out...

For a good skin conditioner try using witch hazel all over your face after shaving. I usually use after shave also since I hate the smell of the witch hazel. Do NOT get it in your eyes tho...

Shaving my head is getting closer all the time, not much hair left up there to shave. I do miss my hair tho, -it kept my head warmer in winter and shaded in the summer. It also seemed to cushion some of those hard knocks!

Yeah, I'll skip that. I'd probably go through three or four razors doing just my back, plus I'm not really into that whole Greg Louganis look.
My roommate in college nair'ed his face once on a bet- he ran around the apartment for almost an hour yelling and screaming until the cops showed up. I, of course, was sitting on the couch laughing.

I bought some store brand blades when I was shaving my head; all I can say is OUCH!!. Now I just let it grow out a bit and use my Wahl clippers with no guard.

I started shaving with the old Shick Injector razor. Now that was a sweet rezor! Now I'm using the 3 blade battery operated one. But I will wait until the new 5 blade battery units come with a supercharger, V8 with NOS, and a 4 speed transmission. Or I may have to wait a few years for the 10 blade units. Starting to get crazy!

Mach 3, I shave daily and mine lasts about 3 weeks.

I have a really sensative under neck area, so I'll usually change the blade out on the first nick I get.

I use a Gilette Sensor handle with the store brand 3 blade heads. Shaving 2 times a week, I can get about 3 weeks out of them.

I use a beard trimmer for the most part. I don't care if I look like a fuzz ball. Fact is, even if I do shave with a blade, I still look like a fuzz ball by the end of the day.

If you'll look in the hair products for black folks, there's a hair remover creme called "Magic." It comes in either a tube or as a powder. It's a depilatory creme for black men's beards since they have coarser, thicker beards.

Don't ask me how I know this.

Hot water before the lather gets applied.
But,
Make sure you rinse the blades with really COLD water every time before applying to face.

I use a disposable razor that comes in a pack of 10 from Shoppers Drug Mart. I don't shave every day...maybe once a week depending what's going on...my razors last me several shaves. Sometimes I think I've used one, one to many times 'cause it doesn't shave hardly at all. Sometimes I use my electric but it doesn't give me a nice close shave. I always wet my face with warm water before applying the cream but I didn't know there was a difference and that I should rinse my razor with cold water...I'll have to try that next time.

I've tried them all since 1970.

Until the 3 bladed razors came out I thought the Trac II was the best.
I use the Mach III and the Quattro these days but my favourite is still the Gillette adjustable (9 positions) that I bought in the early 70's.

I usually buy blades at swap meets to replenish my stock.
