Darksider horns

Care to offer up a suggestion for 12V horns on my heavily modded 48? Anyone try new after market like Hella, PIAA, Bosch. Saw some great looking stainless marine horns but concerned about the sound.

I know the original will work but that's NOT an option.

I mounted an "ooogah horn" in the front engine compartment next to my radiator. It's loud enough to turn heads and gives the truck that nostalgia sound.

I have noticed that both of our tastes are fairly close..........You know what they say, "little things please little minds."

I'll pass on the "oogaahh" and the snorting bull.

Actually, I want something REALLY loud.

Then may I suggest going to J.C. Whitney Catalog and ordering yourself a set of train horns? Those are REALLY loud.

I'm partial to Caddy horns, from a big DeVille. Two tone, high/low. Sound classy and penetrate at the same time (even over rap music bass).

Get an air horn like on a semi truck. When that thing blows everyone will hear.

Then you need to purchase a Set of FoMoCo "Country Horns" that were an Option.

Here ya go. These air horns sound like a freight train. And they are loud!

Any horns from a full sized car or truck up to the 70's should do the trick, after that they made them more "polite" because of noise polution complaints. Some can even be tuned! I have a Hella on my truck, but I only blew it once to see if it worked when I bought it and can't remember how loud it was. I seldom ever use the horn when driving.

Ax, good info. Basically 60's vehicle sounds like what i am looking for.

Don't want air, although those horns look way cool.

And Colonel, I assume the "country horns" you refer to are the dual trumpet type that pops up ever so often. Do you know what years these were available? I have seen 6 volt but never 12 volt. These are what I have been thinking about using if I can find some.
