Greetings,
I was just wondering if someone could tell me what size(diameter and length) the bolt is that holds the transfer case shifter onto the tranny?
1988 F-150 c6 and BW1345
I tried a 1/2, it holds, but works its way out after a few days.
Thanks!
Wow, that's too big for my setup. If the 1/2 x 2.5" bolt isn't the right one, I was wondering if it is a metric size, if anyone knows? What I have works, if I wan't to keep tightening it up every few days so the shifter doesn't fall off.
Anyone know if this is a part available from the dealer? Guess I'll call tomorrow and find out.
I'll have to check the yards, I kinda thought they would all have either been taken or dropped into the mud by someone who didn't need it.
I'll look though.
Thanks
you are talking about the bolt that holds the shifter on and is what the shifter pivots on right?
if so you need that bolt, it is kind of weird, has a long fat neck with a 1 1/8" bolt head and then has 1/2" threads i beleive. i have a couple extras if you are looking for one
try this... take the same bolt you have and put it through your shifter, then run 2 nuts on the bolt leaving just enough room for the shifter to pivot but not tight on it. then tighten the nuts together, this will create a plce for the bolt to stop but you wont be tightening down on your shifter. everytime you shift it wont turn the bolt.
