I have a 95 F-150 extended cab that has a real loud and foul bang when it hits a bump. I know for a fact that it is the radius arm bushing. Do I have to take the whole suspension apart to fix this, or air hammer the rivets on the bracket replace bushing, put in bolts, call it a day. any tricks would be helpful
I'm not sure why you would need to remove the bracket from the frame. There are BIG nuts on each end of the radius arm. Just remove the nuts and take the arm off. Good luck.
You will have to remove the brackets. You can air chisel the rivets, if you are so equipped. I ground off the heads and punched out the rivets - replacing them with Grade 8 bolts. It is not that hard, just takes a little time. And be careful - always consider any suspension parts to be under tension. That radius arm could be under tension from the spring. I have heard you can jack up the front end of the truck, drop the shock and the spring, then the I-beam/Radius Arm combination will have enough room to be pulled forward and get the radius arm out of the bracket without removing the bracket. I am not equipped to do this, so I went with removing the bracket.
