Hey yall. I got some headers for my 84 4x4. After I put them in I'm going to run true duals with a H pipe. I was just under there looking around trying to map it out in my head and I see the drivers side being a real problem due to the transfer case and front drive shaft. I'm hoping yall might have some pictures of how you ran your duals or atleast be able to explain it to me. I dont really want to bring it over to the drivers side around the t-case or run a large single exhaust. It looks like I could drop the pipe below the t-case and cross member but that will loose me ground clearance. I have a few options but none of them seem to excite me too much. So let me see or hear about what you did with yours. Thanks yall
well it depends if you have shorty or long tube headers. if its shortys then notice how on the stock exhaust it runs to the passenger side and connects with the other pipe. well instead of connecting the pipes just run it so it doesnt connect. and bend that pipe a little more. then run pipes back and you got it from there. so basically you run both pipes allong the inner frame of the passenger side. if you have long tube headers its a little tighter turn. the only difference is that the turn off the driver side header is real sharp. so right the collecter you have to almost cut it 90 degrees and run it to the passenger side. thats how pretty much any dual exhaust system is ran on fords that i know of. hope this helps
yea theyre full length. I was hoping to avoid making that tight of a turn. I was lookin at it again and really dont see any other reasonable way to do it. That sucks but oh well. Thanks.
well the only thing i could think of is message "351M" that guy has had a lot of exhausts. he told me how to put side exhaust on it so maybe he can think of something. but yea thats how i did it on my 86 4x4. just had to to cut it real hard.
majority of folks run it over to the passenger side....personally i would go with a big single... like 3" or so....sounds alot better and takes up less room
balances things out like an h-pipe. i love mine
if you really want duals down each side, then your gonna have ground clearance problems....
