2002 core heater plug

2002 core heater plug
The wire for the plug to my 2002 psd is frayed some how. It sparks when you plug it in and when you unplug it. How do i go about replacing it, can i just splay the wires and put a new plug in or do I replace the entire wire, where does it run to like is i something i can do my self in my driveway or is it a dealership thing? Any sugestions welcome thank you

about $25 , if memory serves me, or depending where it's frayed u can cut it and replace with SIMILAR current handling cord. I would solder the splice if i where u. The block heater draws about 7 amps typical(1000Watts).

if its right at the plug just get a repair plug from the hardware store and replace the end or you can splice a new cord in or you can replace it. the business end is right above your oil filter then just unclip it up toward the front then put the new one in its place.

Thanks alot for the replies. It is right at the plug end...so i think im gonna just buy a piece to splice into it and probably mount a bracket to the bumper with a cover to keep the salt and ice out of it in the winter.
