How about a stock winshield washer full of javex. Run two hoses one to the top of each rear wheel. Press the squiter button, then the tires get a good coating of bleach. Now do the brake stand. Talk about smoke
Even more impressive if you hide all the hoses and stuff so no one can see them
Down side is the tires get sticky after the 1st burn, so the next one may be more difficult to do. Also the tires wear like crazy
Whatever you do, don't rev it in neutral then drop it into drive. I had a buddy blow a hole out his rear end by doing this on his GMC. I never laughed so hard in my life. He didn't think it was too funny having to call a tow truck and then paying to have his rear rebuilt.
Powerbraking, done in moderation, should not hurt your truck. Just be careful of high revs. Your motor is not really meant to be spun above 5,500 to 6,000 RPM's.
Well- this post have gotten a pretty good responce. I think overall I have made the choice to simply stick with good looks overall- and good speed. For being a huge piece of metal, it actually hauls alot of A$$. I was looking online today and I found something fun to buy that will be better then laying down rubber anyday- and it seems to not hurt the truck, or the tires! But as far as bystanders and parked Chevies....well, no comment. I think the next $100 I put into my truck will be in the from of FLAME THROWERS! HAHAHAH I found a site online (www.fastpts.com) that offers them- the entire kit, every part you need. Claims 20 foot flames- that would be cool. I do have a rear mounted gas tank though.....that might be a little bigger of a flame then I want!

I wouldn't do the Flame thrower thing. In order to get flame out of your pipes you have to run th Carb way rich. A rich condition, while not as bad as lean, is not good for a motor. To rich can really cause problem. Just a word of warning.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 12:57 PM (EST)]Neutral drops are fun for the first three attempts: from a stand still, at 35mph, at 30mph. Then you snap a u-joint and rip one of the loops out of the drive shaft. I did that once to my dad's van.
There's nothing like the squeal of the tires, the klunk of the fracture, the tink-tink-tink of the still-rotating driveshaft on the concrete, and the speedometer showing 10 or 15 when you're stopped. Now it's pretty funny, but back then it wasn't.

Some day hope to shorten to a 104" wheelbase as part of a Broncification project

Just as a side note here on the flamethrowers. If it's the kind that kills the main coil (instead of requiring the engine to run rich constantly) they're not quite so awful, but they can still do bad things to the engine. Basically that kind works by shutting down the main coil for a short period of time, allowing raw gas to run out the exhaust and then lighting it up. This can strip the cylinder walls of oil pretty quick. Plus if there's a stray spark down the line you could blow your exhaust system apart (small leak before? big one now).
They're doable. But it's not street legal to light off (save for the track or parking lot). And you have to change your oil more frequently. And watch for the extra wear. Not really worth it in my opinion. But the effect is pretty cool.
What cam are you using in that motor? My guess is that you aren't generating a lot of off idle torque and the 360 isn't really considered a torque monster to begin with. Though a moot point and you've heard it before and nothing can be done about it now, the 390 would have been the route to go.You think your truck hauls now? Anyway, that's my guess, not enough low end with not high enough stall speed. I say this because my friend put a built 390 with a big cam in a 65 but with a low stall and he has the same problem. However he has line locks so it's a tire shredder now. On the other hand, you may not be able to shred tires like your buddy, but who else has a 69 Ford that looks like yours? Nobody i'll bet. Sweet truck it looks good. If you ever rebuild that motor again, build a 410, I have one in my 71 4x4 and i have no problem shreding rear ends
Well thanks for the info. The kits I was looking at was the kind that stalled the coil and ran gas down the engine- I know it strip oil quickly, but I only figured on using it every once and awhile, to put the Chevy guys in their place. I ran into a slight problem though... in the form of my mom. HAHA for some reason she doesnt think a 17 year old guy in highschool needs to have the ability to have flames come out his tailpipes on command? Eh, I am working on her right now. Most of my time is spent on my interior right now though, picked up a headliner yesterday and I am fixing it up now, and painting my gauge cluster. The dash pad comes next, I hope. For now, I guess I can keep the rubber on my wheels.....
Thanks

Remeber to post pics of the interior! I want to see the painted gauge cluster as well.
As to power-braking - it's real cool and all - but it WILL eat your front brakes. Don't ask me how I know this :+
mine's only got the 240 in it andall it will do is bark the tires, so i cant impress no one at school with my power. thats a nice lookin truck though, just stick with the big tires and good looks
Heh, I wish I had my truck running back in high school. Heres a trick for ya, dunno if ya tried it already, but put the auto trans in first, then get going fast enough so the engine is turning about 4000 rpm (assuming you have a tach, if ya dont, forget it.) Then, alternate between the accelerator pedal and brake, so you get the truck bouncing. The tires should make noise every time you hit the accelerator pedal. Have fun!
