Was driving it earlier today at highway speeds of 60+ and then the truck died. Pulled it into the nearest parking lot. The fuel pump is engaging. The relays are working. There is spark. (found that one out the hard way, haha). I don't know where to look now. I was thinking possibly a clogged fuel filter or maybe an O2 sensor?
Oh that would suck. How much work is entailed in changing a timing belt? Is it a one day job? I have access to a very wide assortment of tools and I have a general know how.
Good idea! Then the belt just may have jumped a tooth. I have a Haynes manual, the only part that I might have trouble with would the the actual putting on and pulling off of the belt. I should be good with the rest of it.
Good news. It's the timing belt. Good thing this is a non-interference motor, or my $32 replacement belt could've cost me the motor. I managed to pull everything apart in an hour but, I ran out of day light. I'll go pick up the belt tomorrow and I should have it done within 2 hours. Thanks for the ideas!~!

HOW the heck do I get the crankshaft pulley off?!?!?! Is it left handed thread? Bc I put everything I had into it to no avail. Btw, I had to put it in 5th gear and mash the parking brake down just so I wouldn't be turning the engine. Would a very powerful impact wrench do the job? For that, I'd have to take the radiator out, but that's no biggie.
There's a huge nut on the end of it. So, it wouldn't require a puller. I just spoke with my dad, and he suggested using the starter to break it loose.
Here's how it would work:
Put a breaker bar on the nut and slide a pipe over the breaker bar.
Next, rest it on top of the frame on the side of the frame that the motor spins. If it spins clockwise from the front where I'm looking at it, rest it on top of the driver side part of the frame and hit the starter. *(not literally, just engage it)*
This way, the 1/3 or 1/2 HP or however powerful my starter is, does the work for me. I thought I was going to have a hernia with how hard I was tugging on the breaker bar. Sheesh!!
I could even use the starter to retorque the nut, but that wouldn't be necessary bc I could get 120 ft lbs on it easy. The only reason I need to use the starter is to break it loose. Btw, I know I must sound like a wimp, but I was an All-State defensive end.

It's called the "starter bump" method and it works well if it's done right. It's how I was able to remove the crank bolt on my SHO.
Like pop said, use a breaker bar, not a ratchet, and if you have an impact socket that fits the crank bolt, all the better.
If you don't have a heavy duty air wrench, then the starter is your next best bet for removing the crankshaft pulley/damper. Do you have it running again yet?
Not yet. I'm working 2nd shift everyday this week, and I place a large emphasis on sleep. Yesterday, I discovered something troubling. My tensioner pulley has a grinding noise to it. Would a dealership carry this? I'd be willing to be without my beloved Ranger another day just so I could fix this right.
