Are you talking about the timing belt tensioner, or the serpentine belt tensioner???? The Ford dealer should have both......

Timing belt tensioner. Good! I'll run by there today while I have everything off the front of the motor. :P An extra $60 to eliminate that pesky noise? Sounds like a deal made in heaven.

I have a buddy at the dealership that gave me a discount. $51 instead of $63. My motor had a noise to it that sounded like a cricket and whenever I would squirt WD40 on the camshaft bearing the noise would cease, but would surface again after about a minute. When I pulled everything off, I turned the tensioner and figured out where my noise was coming from. The tensioner will be in tomorrow morning. I'll sacrifice my truck another day to have everything done right.

How long have you been squirting WD-40 on the cam bearing? Make sure you clean everything up good, any kind of oil with attack the rubber in the timing belt.....

I only did it twice, so that wouldn't have eaten on my belt too much. I just wanted to find where the cricket was hiding, lol.

Setting the timing is a real pain!! It runs, but not very strong. Idle is great. I have to put the tensioner on by myself, which takes a good few minutes of trying. I can have the whole front of the motor ripped off in about 5 mins flat. Seriously, it's not funny. I shouldn't be this good at anything. I think i'll open up my own Ranger shop after all the mess mine has put me through.

Btw, a new tensioner eliminated that cricket that's been hiding on my motor,
