I just recently replaced some burnt out dash lights (what a fun job!) and during the re-assembly a misc. switch assy. became detached from the steering column near the ignition switch and I was not sure if I put it back into the right place.
Now, when the driver door is opened, it rings (dings) irriitatingly fast until you close the door.
Also, the warning that your lights are on after you turn the engine off no longer works. I opened up the column cover again ,but I cannot figure out where it goes. The Hanes manual I just purchased is not much help.

Any ideas?

Might be the "key in the ignition" switch. I've never messed with it but I'm sure one of the other users can provide more information.

 

Hmmmm....

The slow ding should be the 'key in ignition' switch and the fast ding should be your headlights. I agree with Ken that it is more than likely that switch, but why it would make your headlight warning go off, is beyond me.
