Signal Light Switch

I see in the Classic Hauler (page 47) catalog that you can get a signal light switch that fits into the bell of the steering column. Has anyone installed one of these. My column was all dented up and I have made a new one out of 1.5" X .060" stainless steel, I have also expanded the upper 2 inches to form this bell and it looks like this switch will fit in there, probably is to go above the bearing but I have room below. This is more appealing than a switch connected to the column with a hose clamp.

Thanks

I've been messing around with turn signals switches lately trying to find something that will fit my old Jeepster Commando for less than the $115 pricetag for a new one. I've also been trying to find a decent steering wheel for my 77 F-250.

The cancelling might not be too big of an issue to overcome. A lot of steering wheels that I have seen have a small metal band with a couple of bumps on it, or a coiled roll of wire with the ends poking down. These bumps or ends of the wire are what make contact with the cancelling cams. In most cases they are just a slip fitting and can be removed from the hub of the steering wheel. Which means they could probably be added to the hub an an older steering wheel......either that or drill a couple of holes in the hub and push a couple of roll pins or something like that

Yes Juie, I don't see the self cancelling issue as a show stopper. If I can turn it on I can turn it off.

If you have converted to 12V -grd, the 56 custom cab had built in self cancelling turn signals. I have a perfect full column with switch I am not using If you are interested, PM me.

Ax

Is the 56 column similar to the 52, may be interesting.

Good question, cts. Can the 56 column be retrofitted to an F-1? Without major surgery, of course. lol.

Good question!?! From your user name I thought you had a 54. Maybe someone else can give us both the answer.
