On my 94 my warning chime comes on when I open the door and nothing is left on. No lights, keys etc and the bell rings. I have a tilt column steering wheel. Where is the adjustment or replacement part to fix this annoying problem. I do not want to disconnect it, just fix it.
It started dinging with the column in the highest position, and would stop if I lowered the column, but now it does it all the time until I close the door.
Jeff here's what I found so far. I have a similar problem.
This "door chime" or bell, will not turn off with the key removed from the ignition and the driver's door opened. If the driver's side door is closed the chime will silence with or without the key.
I have searched around the steering column trying to locate the exact cause and have had little luck. One part that could be the problem is an electrical wire (Black/Pink Stripe, Part Number:F85Z14A664AA) that runs from the key ignition cylinder to a wiring harness under/behind the steering column. The dealership says this part can only be changed by replacing the entire "clock spring", an apparent air bag part. Anybody else have experience with this problem?
I am having the same problem and it seems to be draining my battery. Sometimes the radio will also stay on. I took my 01 Excursion V10 to a local shop and they say I need a new fuse panel?
This "MIGHT" also be fixed by the old tried and true WD40 method! Spray it liberally into the door latch mechanism on the door. Open and close the door several times and see if it goes away. You might have to wait overnight to let it really soak in.... don't be afraid to use a LOT of the WD40. You may find that it isn't the drivers door......so do all of them.

Not quite the same problem if your radio is staying on. I wonder if you had a windshield leak and it has ruined your fuse box? Also, Ford sometimes put relays inside the fuse box, and they cannot be repaired except by replacing the fuse box. I would simply ask them why the fuse box needs to be replaced. I would not think the reason to replace the fuse box would be on a "need to know" basis only, and you didn't need to know. I would ask why.
