On my 1970 F-250 4x4 why are the custom badges on the front fenders? I have a feeling the truck may have been a flatbed or cab chassis truck from the factory, how can I tell? Thanks.
i had my truck for years before i noticed that I have a chrome "f100" badge on one side of my side and a reflectored one on the other... wasn't til i joined FTE that a even looked
wish i could help with that question though... sorry for just blabbing
Sounds like 67 plain metal painted and 68 up with the reflector, a pick your parts correction. Trucks been in a wreck or fender change over the years?
.....=o&o>.....
There was a place on Ford's website where you could enter your VIN and they would send you a sheet showing things like build date and how the truck was optioned when it left the factory. I got one for my truck a few years ago.
Maybe someone knows the URL?
The only badges on the cab would be the "custom cab" on the rear pillar, or the "special" packages on the front fenders. Custom, sport custom, ranger, explorer, etc. were at the rear of the bed, high on the side.
I know for a fact the truck has all the original sheetmetal (except for the bed that I replaced, and the one that was on it when I got the truck wasn't the original). The custom emblems were definately on the fenders from the factory. It was a special order truck by pacific power and it also has the very rare willock frame conversion. I'm going to check out the ford info package deal. Thanks.
