I was told I would get more help if I put the vin number of the truck on here. So here it is if anyone can help me. This is exactly the way it is on the truck.
F10AC817925
115 W F 100 281 C09
05000 129 4000 27
This is for a 1966 ford truck F100 short wheel base step side truck.
I know the F100 is for a 1/2 ton, and I believe the 115 W is the wheel base.
But can anyone help me out on the rest of it. I'm a 46-50 ford truck guy. I have not messed with the ford trucks in the 60's any. So I figured you guys on here could help me out so I can help my buddy out. Any info at all would be great. Thanks Scott
Which I was computer literate and knew who to cut and paste. Bookmarked a site that has a breakdown of VIN codes. Unfortunately, unable to get the ling to work in this post. As close as I can get is the link listed below. Select the 61-66 specs and it will take you to another menu to Vin codes. Or if you scroll to the top of this page and open 'article/spec's' forum then select decoder, codes and charts, then select Ford door decoder. Hope the info is what you are looking for. http://f100fever.topcities.com

5000= Max GVW

4000= @ RPM
27 = DSO
Thanks for your all your help. I'm going to check out the wed site today. Mitch thanks for breaking the vin down like that. So far from what the vin # says the truck is checking out. Except for the paint--which I know it has been painted before. But the rest is checking out good. He has a pretty good original truck. If I ca figure out how to post pics on here(which I will) I'll post a couple of pics on here so you guys can see it. He got a good truck for $1500 dollars I think. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions about this truck but thanks for all your help so far. Thanks Scott
Scott your welcome; and as I sure your probably aware this website is fill with alot more knowledgeable folks than one can ask for. Good luck with the truck.
Now that you have that information, what are you going to do with it? What difference is it going to make in ownership of a 40 year old truck???
It is what it is and how it was born really doesn't matter, today. The paint is the color that it is today. Unless it has been carefully garaged it has been painted or is in bad need of it. Same with the engine.
