ok here is my situation, i recently purchased a 93 f150 2wd with a 5.0 , it has an e4od trans , the trans is very slow in first gear so i have to downshift it one lower to get going then shift up and i only get the 2 gears , the person i got it from said it had a good trans when i got it but as i have said it wasnt, so in order to make good on the deal he said he would get me a replacement trans, he brought it to me and it is an aode/w out of a 2wd truck that had the 5.0 as well , my question is , will this just be a swap or are there other things i have to do to make this tranny function in my truck, are the engine bolt patters the same etc , any info will be greatly appreciated
all bell housings are the same on the small blocks ( 4.9, 5.0 and 5.8 ) so it will bolt directly to your engine, the computer will throw codes because it will be looking for input from the tranny and it wont be wired, but other than that it will work, but im not sure if the crossmembers and driveshaft is the same... maybe someone else can chime in on that one

There is no quick fix here, a 4R70W is not a direct swap you will have to make some wiring changes so you're better off finding out what is really causing your shifting problems with the E4OD. Both of these transmissions are computer controled so any sensor problem will cause shift issues, your first step should be to pull the codes to see what is flagged, the TPS, VSS, and MLPS in particular are critical to proper transmission operation.
